Forestal Scores Twice as No. 8 Chargers Handle Kougars 4-0

GALESBURG — Jean Forestal (Ocoee, Fla./Ocoee) scored twice in the opening 5 minutes and the eighth-ranked Carl Sandburg College men’s soccer team earned a 4-0 Region IV victory over Kishwaukee on Saturday afternoon at Galesburg High School’s Van Dyke Field.

Forestal’s two goals give him 20 on the season and tie him for first in all of NJCAA Division II this season. His first goal Saturday came after a shot by Jordan Delgado Ramos (Orlando, Fla./Evans) from 25 yards out was deflected high into the air. It landed in front of Forestal, who was alone in the middle of the box and volleyed one from 15 yards away past the keeper.

Forestal’s second tally in the fifth minute as Guylberson Camille (Key West, Fla./Key West) threaded a pass into the box and Forestal fired it just under the crossbar.

The Chargers (11-2 overall, 8-2 Region IV) padded their 2-0 halftime lead as Ramos blasted a shot inside the left post for an unassisted goal in the 48th minute. In the 73rd minute, Santiago Palacio (Cali, Colombia/Colegio La Arboleda) dribbled in toward the left post, and Oliver Hawkins (Paddack Wood, England/Mascalls Academy) put away Palacio’s centering pass for the game’s final goal.

Keeper Ben Hilton (West Sussex, England/Crawley Town Academy) needed to make just one save against the Kougars (8-5, 6-5) in keeping his second consecutive clean sheet. It’s the fourth time in five games the Chargers have not conceded a goal.

Sandburg played the final 20 minutes shorthanded as Older Geneus (Orlando, Fla./Evans) was issued his second yellow of the match, and Camille was sent off in the 96th minute, also for receiving two yellows.
